The multi-brand streaming challenge: Why yesterday’s platform choices are holding back tomorrow’s growth

Operators rarely run a single brand any more. A premium service sits alongside a value tier; a new market needs its own catalogue and compliance; a white-label partner wants something that looks nothing like your platform. For decades the answer has been one of two unappealing options: build a separate platform for each or make a single platform serve everyone.

Neither works. One European operator described running fifteen separate deployments as having all the complexity of independence with none of the efficiency of shared infrastructure. The other route turns every brand into a compromise, where one brand’s traffic spike becomes every brand’s problem. This paper sets out a third option, and what changes when launching a new brand becomes a configuration exercise rather than a platform project.
